Oceanic
one-design for a new race : the Solo-Oceane |
Sailing
One headed by Yvan Griboval, is developing a concept of offshore
races for 52' one-design.
introduced
on June 16th, 2006 at the French Sail Fédération (FFV),with
Jean Pierre Champion (president), Jean Marie Finot and Michel Desjoyaux
attending, this race is the first equal opportunity, single handed
round the world race.
It allows to give value to seamanship qualities of the sailers by
minimizing the difference between boats.

The
monohulls are strictly identical : sails, weight, hull, equipment, preparation

For
this race we
designed a carbon-nomex 52' boat out of carbon similar to the 60'
monohulls for the Vendée Globe
- canting
keel
- twin daggerboards
- The front foresails is moderately-sized on a fractional rig
in order to decrease the number of jibs, sails changes and intervnetions
in the bow.
- A long bowsprit carries a gennaker or an asymmetrical spinnaker
with a quite short and tilted luff, so the boat digs in less downwind.

Hull, construction,
sail plan, deck fittings, are designed to give an exciting and safe boat.
Fun and safety were paramount in the design of this boat.
We obtain the involvement
of Michel Desjoyaux, Hervé Laurent, Jean Le Cam and others to help
us, high lighting the important points and the most usable and judicious
solutions.
This is how
we work on all our project : we establish a permanent exchange between
the ship-owner, the skipper, the builder, the person in charge of logistic,
the sailmaker, the architect.
