7,5 0pen, one year later

français

0ne year ago was lauching the first 7 ' 50 Open designed by Group Finot for JPS Productions. Since, this" day-boat fun " be noticed in regatta for her lightning accelerations and his "glide". First balance with Nicolas Groleau, technical responsible for the project, and Thierry Fagnent responsible for the shipyard AMCO who builds this sailboat.

Nicolas Groleau :
"Considering a technical and sports point of view, I think that she is a total success. She sails well beyond our expectations. We wished amonotype very different of the other sailboats: faster, easier, more pleasant. A classical boat becomes " amusing " when wind is 20/25 knots, 7’50  is planing  from 10/12 knots and no problem until 30/35 knots!
She is much easier to lead a 7,5' than a Class 8 for example. At the beginning we wanted to realize a monohull 60' open in reduced size. In fact she is more lively than her great sisters because she wears more sail. Because we have not the same safety constraints, we can exploit her at most .
7,5 open is more expensive than the equivalent competitive boats because we use high technology, the same as we use for the 60'open.
At present, three unites are produced but quite a lot of potential customers turn all around. This year, we hope to have some sales, we remain confident, we think that the racers will be able to make the difference between the Open 7,5 and a more classical boat like Melje 24. In June, our 7 ' 50 will be engaged in the "bol d'or" on the Geneva lake where they will be able to seduce".

Thierry Fagnent
" A 7 ' 50 Open is one meter longer than a proto 6 ' 50 for the Mini Transat and the 6,50 are also the small scale models of monohulls 60' open. With what we know about Mini, we expected so a boat15 % faster but if , tacking, their speed are comparable, reaching, there is no comparison : the Open 7 ' 50 is a real airplane! About her reactions in regattas, she is a little halfway between a monohull and a multihull. For example, when reaching she tack at 90° from the wind as a multi … About performance, we managed to go up until 25 knots on the GPS with wind 25/30 knots! On the market of the 24 ' there is quite a lot of people but we would indeed imagine within two years the presence of 15/20 unites in three or four different harbors so that they can race regularly. Wait and see".
