Our boats in the last races

Transat Jacques Vabre - 12th mini-transat -Tour d'Italie

1 - Transat Jacques Vabre: 1st and 3rd

Le Havre - Cartagène (Colombia) start October 16 99

Five of the nine race boats on the starting line were designed by Finot-Conq.

Congratulations to Thomas Coville and Hervé Jan on Sodebo Savourons la vie who finished first after passing Whirpool-Europe 2 in the last leg.

Early in the race, Thomas and Hervé took a southern route which was less favorable than the northern option which was followed by the other racers. Nonetheless, Sodebo's victory is the result of a fantastic progressive recovery.

Congratulations also to Mike Golding and Ed Danby on Team Group 4 who finished third.

2- 12th Mini-transat (21 foot long open-design sailboat race):
1st and 2nd at the second leg
4th et 5th at final results

First leg : Concarneau - the Canarian Islands, start September 26, 99

During this leg the sailing conditions were particularly difficult due to wind.
The first Groupe Finot-design boat, English Braids-Yacht Ropes, was skippered by Alex Bennet and in finished sixth place. This boat was built in 1987.
Erwan Tabarly on Armor Luxe needed to take a 30-hour stopover in Spain as a precaution. This decision unfortunately compromised his chances to appear in top position, however, this difficult choice showed his wisdom.
Eric Renault on R.LEBRAS and Peter Heppel on Reality preferred to wait for better weather at the beginning of the race.
Albert Bargues on Port de Generalitat, which was damaged at the starting line, made a very nice recovery.

Second leg The Canarian Islands - Guadeloupe

The Finot-Conq designs took the first and second positions.
Congratulations to Erwan and Peter !
